Definitely Michelangelo's David. I would reccommend first reading the book "The Agony and the Ecstacy". It is a historical fiction about Michelangelo.. and it basically tells about Michelangelo's life, from when he was a boy, and tells about how he became an artist, and a lot of it takes place in Florence. But it tells it in a story. Then when you see his works in person in Florence, it is so breathtaking and amazing to see what he created hundreds of years ago, and to walk to same streets he did.

everything that people have said so far, but I would get a travel book like Rick Steve's or Lonely Planet...you have museum stuff and the shopping disticts with all the leather and gold jewelry, but my girlfriend and I participated in a Beer Pong tournament in Florence that happens every Tuesday night during the school year.

You must to the touristy stuff, but you should try to live it up as a resident once and awhile.

you may, in concept, do the two in 3 days. even nonetheless, you would be cramming them, and that's in maximum cases disappointing. based on the quantity of time you have, i could propose Venice. the quantity if stuff in Florence, you does no longer have the skill to do justice in 3 days. Venice, you ought to do it very actual, devoid of having to hurry, yet theres nevertheless thousands to do, exceptionally in case you dedicate an afternoon to the islands. even nonetheless Venice does fee extra effective than Florence, yet possibly no longer with the aid of plenty. in case you may get one extra day or 2 and stay for 4/5 days, i could visit Florence. in case you may get each week, you're able to do the two.

find a tiny little street of a little cafe in a piazza and sit there and watch life go by for a while. u shud obviously see everything - but to do this you dont need to be a tourist - spend time at each place and dont rush everywehere since if you do u wont remember each thing for all its worth and it will all become somewhat a blur. Firenze isnt worth a blur
